How clean are the parts?

It uses signal processing, not AI: great for karaoke, practice and references, but you will hear leftovers of other instruments. It is not a studio-grade separation.

Why does a mono file not work well?

Vocals are found where both stereo channels play the same thing. A mono file has no stereo picture to work with.

Can I use the parts of any song?

You are responsible for having the rights to the music you split and to anything you publish with it.
